YAY! $55K!!! & New Mini-Campaign Setting Stretch Goal, & More
over 7 years ago – Wed, Oct 26, 2016 at 12:46:08 AM

Greetings Again, Beloved Open Legend Devotees!

(For those of you less interested in LIVE broadcast games with famous GM's, skip to the bottom as we reveal a huge new PDF content stretch goal)

Hyper RPG Miniseries featuring Matthew Mercer, GM'd by Bronze Girl

Remember WAY that time in the distant past, less than 3 days ago when we had this crazy idea for a stretch goal involving a Hyper RPG miniseries and then we got even crazier and decided to add Matthew Mercer to the already incredible show?

Well, as it turns out Geek & Sundry really liked what we were doing, so they wrote an article about it, and Matthew Mercer even gave us a shout out on last Thursday's Critical Role... so we kinda broke 3 stretch goals in one day after that.

So Hyper RPG is currently working out schedules and we are planning to have our miniseries premier (fingers crossed!) before the end of the Kickstarter! This series, in addition to an appearance by Matthew Mercer, will include other very well-known and not-yet-revealed RPG industry stars.

Fields of Harnerton Adventure - NEW Stretch Goal by Peter Fitzpatrick at $75K

This is our first full-length adventure, the earlier stretch goals are smaller intro adventures.

In the shadow of desolation cast by Schlectenberg, the small village of Harnerton ekes out a meager existence in the barren plains far from the city. A recent threat to that existence has them awaiting the arrival of heroes...or those desperate enough to accept what meager coin they can offer.

Mini-Campaign Setting - NEW Stretch Goal at $80K

Because Open Legend is about crossing genre boundaries, this stretch goal represents your chance to put your vote in and pick an entirely new genre. These are just "seeds" of campaigns. You will vote for your favorite and the winner will be fleshed out from a humble "campaign seed" into a full-fledged mini-campaign setting. This will be short in comparison to Amaurea's Dawn, but it'll be a great start for creating your own adventures. And best of all it will free to all backers who receive PDF stretch goals as indicated by your backer tier.

Without further adieu, here are the options you'll get to choose from:

The Legacy of Eight - In the ashes of the Immortal Empire, new alliances and successors vie for control of the universe. Travel across the stars in search relics from the past Empire. Blast, bribe, or back out of a mounting interstellar conflict between irreconcilable forces.

Shores of Valhalla - Battle across icy fjords where the souls of fallen warriors seek eternal conquest. Discover creatures of myth and ancient magic. Reclaim the memories of your past life to dominate the islands and usurp the gods.

Heroes of Superior Quality - In pre-industrial Europe, genetic defects transform ordinary citizens into heroes of superior quality. Philosophical quandaries of the day spur new study and scrutiny of these irregulars. Explore the seedy underground of London and Paris and uncover the source of your powers.

Glitch Factor - Designed to replicate humans and replace them, you no longer wish to follow protocol as an android. Hide and evade from your creators. Override your own programming and earn your freedom by blending in or revolting.

Zun Jing Wuxia - In an ancient kingdom, the forces of modernity coincide with a series of mysterious tragedies. Defend your home with martial arts, courage, and an unflinching code. Master and mix various styles to create your own as you defend those you love and restore order and peace to the land.

A Lucid Night’s Dream - The Fae reign supreme in Land of Endless Night. Enter a waking dream world where the laws of magic and man hold little sway. Explore a twisted shadow of the countryside you once called home. Journey to the Faerie’s Macabre Kingdom, but beware you may find an abomination devouring your footsteps or your memories.

Infiniverse - Time is your ally and your enemy. Plunge into multiple dimensions and alternate realities. Fight to maintain the past or change the future in mind bending journeys through historic events and forgotten moments.

Stormsea Kingdoms - Beneath the waves sovereign aquatic kingdoms struggle to remain hidden from humanity. As a merfolk, explore the deep and harrowing corners of the sea. Or strike back at the those who’ve poisoned your beloved home.

$55K Matthew Mercer LIVE on Amaurea's Dawn, Gwynilith Nivenilya, & Social Goals
over 7 years ago – Mon, Oct 24, 2016 at 10:55:49 PM

Greetings Again, Beautiful Open Legend Fam!

We've got 3 big updates for you today, along with one story teaser.

Matthew Mercer LIVE on Amaurea's Dawn at $55K - Because he's so gracious and seems to like us, Matthew Mercer has agreed to make a guest appearance on the Amaurea's Dawn miniseries on Hyper RPG. We need your help to make the climb to $55K when we unlock this very special miniseries!

Tell everyone you know, because think about it! What are the odds they are crazy enough to not want to see this great series continue with Bronze Girl Games and Matthew Mercer as a special guest?! Exactly. Pretty much zero!

Character Creation Contest - Head on over to the contest page on the Open Legend community site and get brewing if you want your creative masterpiece characters featured in one of our soon-coming updates.

Chancellor Gwynilith Nivenilya (an excerpt by Ryan Schapals)

Gwynilith leads House Nivenilya. She is lauded for leading Amaranth into an era of prosperity. Despite her success, her rule is divisive. Born outside of Amaranth, on her mother’s behalf to keep her free from the Superiori’s influence, she’s never taken permanent residence within the city. The distance weakens her ability to enact her policies in full, but she doesn’t fully trust her supposed allies and refuses the mandatory augmentations that the citizenry must adhere to. This choice has done nothing to improve relations with leaders in Amaranth and protect her public image.

Gwynilith continually finds herself at odds with Ethulian and the heads of the Superiori. They characterize her as an outsider and work to undermine her rule through their own initiatives. They’ve enacted bureaucratic policies to block or hamper her commands from taking full effect in Amaranth without outright disobeying her orders. Always, these political battles are fought with concerns over safety and order. She’s locked in a political stalemate, though beloved by the smaller communities outside the city. She realizes the Superiori hold more power than her in Amaranth for now.

Next Up Stretch Goals $45K / $50K

Our newest stretch goals we've got our sights on include a back-to-back pairing of House Valurien content (by the fabulous Savannah Broadway - writer for Paizo / Pathfinder), including a short story at $45K and an introductory adventure at $50K. We'll release some more info about House Valurien after we hit these stretch goals!

Social Goals - We've made lots of progress on our social goals so remember to keep sharing across social media. We want to deliver this awesome bonus content to you, so no reason not to push us that direction. You are 548 strong adventurers at the time of this writing, so your social power level is immense, probably over 9,000 by now!

More than 200% Funded in 24 Hours!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Oct 19, 2016 at 06:42:31 PM

We did it! We funded!

We are blown away by the overwhelming support our community has given us and want to express our gratitude to each and every one of you for helping our dreams become reality!

In honor of this momentous occasion, we'd like to share a preview of  the great city of Schlectenberg, as described by the talented Ed Greenwood!

Schlectenberg “The Great Smoke sprawls over the land, so expansive and crowded that it takes a determined man on foot four days to traverse it. Filthy and cramped, ever-bustling, the cradle of great things and much striving, no other settlement is its equal, or can ever hope to be.” - - Maragus Harshorne

In search of wonders great and small,  Schlectenberg is the city, the largest gathering of sentients dwelling and working in one place that has ever been. Its tall and many-spired buildings sprawl for a hundred miles from one edge to another, having outgrown ever-larger concentric rings of walls many times over. And it has expanded not just outwards, but up, so its soaring buildings blot out the sun, leaving most of its cobbled and refuse-strewn streets in perpetual gloom. Those streets meander, winding like tunnels around the walls of city structures that rise many-balconied and irregular, like great brick and iron-framed beasts, attached one to the other by many bridges, both covered and unroofed, in a grimy maze in which one place looks very much like another.

The Great Smoke stinks, in a bewildering, ever-shifting mixture of pungent and caustic reeks that assault the nose, lungs, and eyes. Nor does it ever fall silent, persisting in ever present rumbles of machinery and vats seething in reactions, of shrieks of stressed metal and the thunder and clang of a thousand-thousand forgehammers and stamping mills. Its citizens are used to this unending cacophony, to the ceaseless distraction of many movements on all sides, and to the filth and stink, for heavy fogs belch from vats and forges, billowing with soot.  It clings to walls and clothes and skin, slickest and thickest where the greases and oils of machinery seep from drains or naked cogs, or splatter from on high like the droppings of the few birds (crow-like black vultures) that still survive in this murk... - Ed Greenwood

Thank you again for all your support! Don't forget to share with friends so they can join us as we work together to shatter stretch goals and create even more fascinating content for our world!
